Hilarious!

Poor SUV owners were suckered into buying behemoths.

The Wall St. Journal, tongue in cheek, is proposing a federal bailout for the victims of predatory SUV salesmen who now can't afford to buy gasoline.

Interesting factoid to keep track of

As election predictors go, the Dow Jones has been remarkably accurate.
If the Dow goes up from the end of July to the end of October, the
incumbent president or vice president wins; if it goes down, the
incumbent loses. It has been wrong only four times since the Dow was
created in 1896.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence

Michael Barone with his thoughts on Doug Feith's War and Decision.

Even if Arbusto doesn't get the Truman treatment and end up being lauded by history for removing Saddam, freeing Afghanistan and keeping us from another major attack for 7 ish years, its the fact he and his administration didn't stand up and vocally rebut the attacks that effectively neutered him and have now limited our ability to deal with other threats (Iran, N. Korea, Syria, etc...) that is unforgivable.

I know I've bitched before about the "1 drop rule", but here it is in all its glory:
"Obama would be the first black candidate to receive a major party nomination in United States history."

Ummm... okay, so he's gonna be the Halle Berry of 2008.
Whatever.
The whole "judging by the content of their character instead of the color of their skin" thing is obviously getting tossed out the window.
I'm sadly certain that when Obama gets blown out 49-1 (because he is a raging liberal), it will end up setting us back 40+ years, as conspiracy theorists and racial hucksters come out of the wood works to scream about racism.

post moved to StrA

Democrats to Economics: Shoofly. We dont believe in you.

Idiots

Money graf:

"Democrats unveiled a plan that sets up an Energy Independence and
Security Trust Fund to be financed by a repeal of $17 billion in oil
and gas industry tax incentives and a 25 percent windfall profits tax
on the five biggest oil companies. The trust fund would finance
renewable energy development, energy efficiency technology and consumer
price protection, according to a summary of the plan...

Democrats are proposing an anti-price-gouging plan that gives the
president the authority to declare an energy shortage emergency and
makes it a crime to set "unconscionably excessive" prices. They are
also pitching again a plan to allow the United States to sue the
Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries for manipulating
prices... [The plan] would prevent traders of U.S. crude oil from
routing transactions through offshore markets to evade speculative
limits and installs reporting requirements. It also requires the
Commodity Futures Trading Commission "to set a substantial increase in
the margin requirement for all oil futures trade, contracts or
transactions," according to the summary."

I mean, I thought I was all alone in the world in my desire to bring back DDT.

Latest missive to Dole & Burr

Sen. X,

Hopefully you are part of this (from the Wall St. Journal):

Mr. McCain and 24 other Senators are now urging EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson to consider using his broad waiver authority to eliminate looming biofuel mandates

Please be on the vanguard of ending these silly and onerous regulations that have done nothing to help the environment and have unwittingly increased food prices.

Thanks,

Someone sue his ass for malpractice

HFS, this is kind of cool.

The "Resource Curse"

I have to admit, I'm a firm believer in the theory.
If there were suddenly $5 Trillion worth of X underneath Utah, Im betting the Mormons would be as bad a problem as the Saudis.

I lovelovelovelovelovelovelove the IDF.

When can we take the gloves off and start fucking bitches up???

BTW -- where the fuck is John Edwards???

You would think that the Veep nominee in '04 and #3 Dem candidate for President in '08 would probably want to get a word in edgewise about, ohIdontknow, the FUCKING NORTH CAROLINA PRIMARY ????

However... my "sources" tell me that his future prospects are quite dim based on the love child that will be entering the world shortly.

The Emperor has no clothes and other fairy tales

Hopefully, the wheels will be coming off of FQ "Global Warming" sooner rather than later.

Favorite line: "Their work effectively thwarted the standard scientific method of disproving the theory."

All in all, what a great compilation of GW's greatest frauds. I generally dont like the term "Somebody should X..." but in this case, someone needs to bring criminal negligence charges against Algore, the Nobel Committee, and the IPCC. Fuck all of them.

Hilarious.

So the two comments in this article that make me chortle:
1)“Racism is deep in the culture of this country,” said Roger Wilkins, an
author who was an assistant attorney general in the Johnson White House
and whose daughter has worked in the Obama campaign.

And

2)“It will be a challenge to win a general election with an
African-American candidate,” said Larry Bartels, a professor of
politics at Princeton. “The challenge has less to with internal
tensions within the Democratic Party than with the resentments and
racial misgivings of the general electorate.”

Too funny. The idea that maybe, just maybe, people might vote against the "black" candidate because they dont support liberal policies ...
BAH!!
Bigots! Racists! Members of a secret society!

How many contortions will these hustlers of indignation have to put themselves through if McCain picks Condi , who by herself has more 'experience' (granted, most of its in the School of 'Realism' which I disagree with) than EITHER Hilary or Osama Bobama ?
