Hard truths taste like bile, but its good medicine.

The politics of the failed Bush presidency.

My boy Spengler...

on fire as always.
Interestingly enough, we can get our own scoop from Sweet Dee's mom next month - she apparently worked with the XX Obama. Should be good clean fun.

OT, wrt his comment "Spouses do not necessarily share their likes, but they must have their hatreds in common."
Could not agree more.

Wheels coming off of Osama Bobama's campaign

Before she resigned for calling Hillary a monster, O.B.'s foreign affairs adviser had this to say about his plans to end the war immediately:

"Power downplayed Obama's commitment to quick withdrawal from Iraq on Hard Talk, a program that often exceeds any of the U.S. talk shows in the rigor of its grillings. She was challenged on Obama's Iraq plan, as it appears on his website, which says that Obama "will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months."

"What he’s actually said, after meting with the generals and meeting with intelligence professionals, is that you – at best case scenario – will be able to withdraw one to two combat brigades each month. That’s what they’re telling him. He will revisit it when he becomes president," Power says.

The host, Stephen Sackur, challenged her: "So what the American public thinks is a commitment to get combat forces out in 16 months isn't a commitment isn't it?"

"You can’t make a commitment in March 2008 about what circumstances will be like in January of 2009," she said. "He will, of course, not rely on some plan that he’s crafted as a presidential candidate or a U.S. Senator. He will rely upon a plan – an operational plan – that he pulls together in consultation with people who are on the ground to whom he doesn’t have daily access now, as a result of not being the president. So to think – it would be the height of ideology to sort of say, 'Well, I said it, therefore I’m going to impose it on whatever reality greets me.'"

"It’s a best-case scenario," she said again.

As I said yesterday, Americans are pussies

who resign for telling the truth.

Part of this goes back to the idea that Obama must play by his own rules but it also disguises the fact that, behind the curtain, there ain't much there

Hulk smash!

So no matter how many times I run into home-schooled children that a social retards, no matter how many times Sweet Dee informs me that home schooling is the kiss of death for success at college, on and on and on -- for all the negatives associated with home schooling, having the Iron Hand of government crush any dissent from orthodoxy makes my blood fucking boil.

The part of the article that sends me ballistic is the head of the teacher's union being "pleased". I hate fucking unions. Loathe them. Especially government unions. If Xenu granted me one wish, it would be that local, state & federal employees could not unionize. The idea that a "teaching degree" signifies competence to teach - we ALL know that is laughable and completely ludicrous.

Look, you all realize I deep in my heart think everyone is just like me, a relatively renaissance-ish person who's a great generalist.
I know that most of the people that do home schooling appear to be religous nutcases, and they end up teaching their children crazy shit like 9/11 conspiracies and taking them on field trips to places like church. Fine. But really - what has REALLY changed in the past 300 years for the basics of math, english & history ? Not that much. In fact, we've dumbed it down and included a bunch of irrelevant garbage, fluffy feel good crap.
So in a way, home schoolers are "taking it back".
Even if in reality they're doing a piss poor job.

BTW - the Euphemism's brother in law and his entire brood (2 brothers, 2 sisters) were "home schooled" by their mother, and they definitely help the argument against allowing parents to teach their children.
Yikes.

How many times can I say it? Burn down the CIA.

Not only are they a bunch of bungling idiots, but they run their fucking yappers and CANNOT KEEP A FUCKING SECRET!!!

American politics is for pussies. Or dicks.

So the Prime Minister has to go before the House of Commons on a fairly regular basis and gets heckled and badgered mercilessly UNLESS they can clearly & forcefully defend their beliefs.

Current PM Gordon Brown seems unwilling to bring the EU Constitution back up for a referendum, seeing as how it has already lost once, and was even defeated in France.
Compare the discussion in Parliament against the milquetoast drivel we have to deal with:

And.... ACTION!!!

The Lib Dem leader (Mr Clegg) declared: "Nothing will do more damage to the pro-European movement than giving room to the suspicion that we have something to hide, that we do not have the 'cojones' to carry our argument to the people."

With deadly good humour, Mr Hague (Conservative Leader) turned these brave words back against Mr Clegg: "An explanation of why the Liberal Democrat leadership's protests in the debates have become ever more shrill is that, at some point in recent months, they have become separated from their cojones. Those unfortunate objects are now to be found impaled on a distant fence."

Compare that to H.R. Puffenstuff Clinton whining in a sham "debate" about being asked the first question every time.
My.
Gawd.
We have become a nation of fucking pussies.

Try not to vomit while reading: Title IX for science.

Could it be that women have these things called "lives" and aren't really interested in putting in 70 hour weeks in rooms that reek of sweat and Fun-onions ?

Global warming: best informed are least concerned

You mean that idiots with no concept of the scientific method will believe anything that people funded to specifically raise those fears say???
For shame!
